Oh December, 2010 is Near its End!

Stella and Chloe
The picture is of my pet mouse Chloe. I bought her almost a month ago as a friend for Stella. I thik they really like eachother so I'm glad I got her.
I go to Washington DC on holiday in about a week. It is coming fast, hard to believe. I could use a break. Work is not giving me any hours and I hate it. My car is getting on my nerves and Chad has a major attitude. We argued all last weekend. I told him if his attitude doesn't improve though I will take off. I have had it with his attitude and drama!
As fo the future I am ready to seek God for the long term (whatever that means). I can tell Colorado is the right choice, but I don't know how to get there. I also looked at a discipleship trainiong school to grow again, although I'm not sure when or how that could happen. I guess time will reveal! I can't wait! Only one more book for this month then all of the books are compleated in finishing my 2010 new years resolution! In 2011 I hope to focus on all of the Bible studies I have not accomplished. I am already looking forward to a new (and hopefully better) 2011!

Shit Hits The Fan

Things appear to be going well, but then as always, the shit hits the fan! I seam to have forgotten to calculate import taxes on items now & I owe a LOT of money I need to pay- Thus, unless I get a new job soon, I can not buy my new computer, iPod, OR go on holiday--- POOP! I got transfered to a different Taco Shop too where my hpours were cut by ten a week!! They are supposed to go up though soon!! I really hope I can pay bills this month, but I think my tax return will help a lot! I have a few leads on jobs that pay a LOT more than what I get now, so hoping and praying for one. In other news I finished my May book so I gotta try to blog on it AND Sex God (my book from April) coming up SOON!! At least I have the extra time from lack of work... :/

I have been spending that time off work working out like crazy though because the weather has been SO LUSH! The picture on this blog is from after a workout like 10 days ago or something... I Started to tan some and people are actually noticing my workout efforts: Walk a few miles a day, 150 crunches, protien shakes, I feel GREAT! I will hopefully update soon on my books & hopefully the sun stays so my tan does not die!! :)

Keep it Real, =P

Tornado- DEUXXXX

Just Got back from the dentist! I seriously can't even say how much I want to be a dentist someday... I reallllyyyyy want to! I think I would be good at it!

Yesterday there was another tornado right outside my work! We were not allowed to take shelter though cos the maneger would fire us! I did not see the funnel, but I heard it pass! It got very dark and rained insanely hard, golf ball sized hail fell, and the wind was going so fast the door to the building was almost torn off! It rained so much that we nearly had a flood! I tried taking pictures of what the tornado did since I couldn't go to a shelter, and one of the pix is in this blog! Its the one of the door almost being torn off. The picture does not really depict the expirence though!

I am going to try to catch up this month on my blogs and get the April AND May book blogs posted on time AND my Living Free study if I can finally finish it! I am off work today, so hopefully I can accomplish some things... And cleaning... UGG... SO MUCH TO DO!! Ready to just finish it all so I can move on to June!! Seriously!!

April News... Busy Month...

Well to say the least it looks like life is finally starting to go my way... Or at least it has been going more in my favour these days. My painting of my apartment is DONE! All I have are a few tiny touch ups that I need Chad to do, but that has not stopped me from moving all of my stuff in and getting settled. Last Saturday night I spent my first official night in my own place sleeping on my Lilo. On Saturday I also got my pet guinea pigs (pictured in this blog). I have three :) There names are Moe (the long haired fuzzy one), Ginger (the orange one), and Splodge (or Splodger), who is the orange and white one. They were all identified as girls when I bought them so HOPEFULLY they were correctly sexed. They are superrrrr cute and I love them so much. It is so great seeing their little personalities come out... Moe is super affectionate... and Ginger is a major trouble maker... Splodge seams to be more like Ginger than Moe, but does not cause THAT much trouble... just not too cuddley. They are really messy and poo all over their cage a LOT so I have to clean it VERY often... I have a feeling I will spend more money on litter for them than on anything else for them. Luckily it only costs $3 or so at WalMart :)

I also have a sofa now... :) Its a really pretty green sofa!! Thanks to someone my father knows, he was able to use his truck one day to help me bring the sofa home... As for the rest of my furniture, I assembled all my shelves & its all getting put together... I still have a mess of stuff on my floor to put away, but its not too bad. Today I bought my bed frame too. I am having it shipped to me so it will take a bit to get here but yeah... I am excited all of my bills are much less than expected. That helps a LOT! I have just about everything I need for my apartment so far except I do not have a telle!! Or things to mount my pictures to the wall!!

I finished my April book like... a day or two ago maybe?!? So hopefully I will blog on that in May!! Of all of the rest of my books I chose for 2010, NONE of them were available in the book stores, so I bought them ALL online today (cheaper to buy in bulk)... I am even having one shipped to me from England because it has not been published in the USA where I am at the moment. I also bought a lot of Walkers crisps in bulk to be shipped to me. They do not sell those in America either!! I also bought some Yorkshire Gold Tea, British Chocolate Bars, Maramite, and Australian Veggemite!! :) Had to get them imported since you can't buy them in America (or at least any place around here)... I just hope whichever of the books that arrives next month for my May books arrives in time for me to finish the book before May is over!! I also sent out my May birthday cards today and talked to my father because it was his birthday!!

I know I am probably forgetting something, but I don't remember, so I will end with a funny story: Normally I hate spicy foods and find things that are not hot to most people very hot, but for a few days I have really been craving something spicy! So at work one day I tried the mild salsa and it tasted like water... it was so sad. It did not kill my craving, so the next day I was still craving something hot & I tried our hot salsa & it was SO WEAK!!! The maneger Ernie had gone to Taco Express & had some leftover authentic Mexican RED HOT CHILI PEPPER hot sauce (the REALLY hot stuff). He put a drip on my taco & I loved it so he gave me the cup of it (decent size cup), & I poured the WHOLE THING on my last 1/3 of a Taco... It was SOOOOOO HOT but SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I loved it. My eyes were watering & my nose was running but it was totally worth it! and with a small sip of water I was great! (No burning mouth) :) Today the manager Jackie remembered how much I loved it & when she went by Taco Express they give you an option of 2 cups of mild & two of hot... she usually does not get the hot but she did and brought them to work to give to me... :) I may hate salsa & I may hate spicy foods, but that is some gooooodddddd salsa :) hahahaha

Now that you have had a good laugh, I am back to more stuff to do!! I hope you all have a good rest of April since I am pretty sure this is my last post this month!! :)

Just a Quick One

This is just a quick post... I am just going to say that I survived my first Monday Night (all you can eat night) at the West Store yesterday!! Lets just say I felt awful by the end of the shift because I was soooooo tired that I slept like a baby!! hahaha. I had missed church Sunday for being totally tired as well, 3 alarms couldn't wake me... So I must have been compleatly knackared... Today is my day off and I work tomorrow (I still need to find the piece of paper I wrote all my hours on... :/ I am so not organised this week... or lately for that matter.

I also applied for my apartment today!! I sohould know soon that they would say they accept my application but I probably will not move in til 1 April... I still need to get paint, furnature, a bed etc... I HAVE TO move in by the 15th of April they said and I am thinking I will probably move in sooner... I think Chad is getting sick of me... haha (not really sick of me, just sick of my lack of desire to do dishes haha)... I hope I can manage to get all my bills paid etc... but I have been getting more hours at work than Chad overall so we will see...

I finished reading Drops Like Stars by Rob Bell for my March book on Sunday... It was a super fast read... I still have to post my blog on my February book tho so I will hopefully do that well... shortly... I have the book with me to look over to help me blog on it after this. I hope it will post in the next week. I dunno how long it will take to write the blog for it... Also on Sunday I bought a few new things of clothes (at WalMart actually) I thought they looked good. I am wearing some of them in the picture... I finally actually fit into regular length trousers... I must be growing (I hope) since my short trousers that used to all hit the ground no longer do and are getting well, SHORT!! haha... Well thats all for now, (I told ya it was a quickie)...

Computer Virus, MeaslePox... Oh, Oklahoma!!

Okay It really feels like forever since I have been on here but I promise I will get better. I just spent the last 5+ hours fixing the computer with the help of my father and brother over the phone... I had a nasty virus that would not let me open the internet at ALL and we had to reverse the system and get it off... after that I had to remove the Malware & the first two scans were costly, but my bro knew of a free one we finally used & I had 257 threats the first time!! The removal did not fully work tho so I had to get another scan (taking another hour and a half) and remove the last 56 things of malware. Turns out a lot of stuff came from Zwinky (which is now gone) and the virus was Vista Guard 2010 (not a friend)... after all of that its finally gone... I still don't have a virus protection, but I think I'm okay for doing this... just cant download really anything new... But I will hopefully have it REALLY SOON :)

Aside from my computer having a virus, I also had a nasty virus just a week ago... So nasty that I got spots all over me. I went to the doctor & it was this new virus that had developed. It was not one of the known viruses like measles, mumps, rubella, or chicken pox, but it was kind of a cross between chicken pox and measles (the spots were more pox like but flat and only itched if wet)... it was as contagious as say Chicken Pox so I was not allowed to work or go to church last week. It was quite unpleasent. I had to take a pill like every 6 hours... Bahh... but the spots did go away quickly with that drug, and as much as Chad likes to say his immune system is "shit" he did manage to NOT catch the MeaslePox (what I call the sickness, it has no real name)... And Chad was DEFFINATLY exposed, he just got VERY lucky :)

Last Sunday as I was getting better Chad begged me to go to the casinos in Oklahoms so we drove an hour to Native Lights Casino (where the picture of Chad at the Slot machine was taken) and some other casino right next to it... I HATE the casino... they always smell AWFUL!! and its boring. And I drove, and due to my medicine I had to take from being sick I was not even able to have a few drinks so I was CRANKY!! I told Chad next time we go to the casino he is driving & he is buying me some damn alcohol (not to get drunk but just to take the edge off of my crankiness of being there)...

I went to the library and paid to have my newsletters printed after the address labels were recieved, so birthday cards thru March and Christmas cards were FINALLY sent... I have the April ones already ready to send off in a few weeks. Chad's B-Day is the 23rd, but I still gotta get him his gift (I'm sure with shipping time it won't be here in time, but thats his fault for waiting to tell me what he wanted til the last minute).

Other than all that just workin my ass off at the Taco place... Today was soooooo busy and I am sooooooo tired!! I had hoped the computer would have been fixed in 2 hours tops... oh well... at least its taken care of!! I ran into someone at Taco Shop today who had remembered me from when I worked at the other store... :) I still don't have an apartment or any of that so there is still a lot to do. I still have to sit down and finish (*cough* start *cough*) my March book Drops Like Stars by Rob Bell (okay I read like 17 pages so far I think...) And I hope VERY shortly to post the February Book blog (since my computer is actually better now)... And I have Tuesday off so maybe Tuesday, but no promises... I'm just so glad my health and my PC-Piece-O-Crappo's health is doing better... hahaha... (now I can download more music I wanted again, and pictures from my phone to hard-drive etc). Okay, well I hope to update later this week, so keep looking for updates...

Toto... Are You Sure its Kansas?!?

This is just a quick update since I gave most of my update the other day and not a whole lot has happened since then. I can say however Chad's automobile has died... AGAIN!! He thinks the alternator has a problem because it is clearly not just a battery issue. But hopefully he will have that fixed next week. In other news today I mostly just did more work on my Beth Moore Study book STEPPING UP and reading of my book for February. I looked a lot at my list of things I want to do before I go back to University and I realised I could probably finish at LEAST a third of those things on the list before 2011 hits if I work at it... and likely most of it by 2012 (except perhaps the craziest things of sorts like Trek the whole continent of Australia!!) haha. I have also been looking at beaches in Bermuda... The cost to go there is fairly low, and it is on my list!! I am thinking about a trip in summer 2011 possibly for my birthday if I have my finances straight then... Regardless, I'm sure my adventures will be loads of fun!! I just hope I have a job soon!!

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day!! I can not stay up too late cos I need to cheque if I can get a Post Office Box and hopefully get all that established, and prepare a cover letter for my resume for the job I had a lead on for Tuesday so hopefully that goes well... And I have to call about my government money, call the local court to establish that I am NOT a resident for there records (seams to be a confusion), and probably pay my credit card bill. Funnnnn Stufff.... I've also asked if my parents can ship me my guitar sometime... I hope to learn to play it & post some singing vids with it on youtube along with other music vids onces I get a working webcam!! :)

Lastly, I just have to say that this snowfall deffinatly puts me in a good mood. I hope to get a dumping like the east coast of the USA is getting!! It may not be much, but it is deffinatly a lot more than I have expirenced being in Kansas before... Just enough almost for me to ask... Toto... Are you sure that we are really REALLY in Kansas?!?! HAHAHAHA.... Hope you like my picture of the pretty snow, and have a good week everyone!! I hope to update again when I have more to say :) I'm back to downloading more music... Til Next Tyme...

Its been a While Since My Last Post...

Hello Everyone!! Sorry it has been a while since my last post on Velvet Elvis, but things have gotten even more crazy if you can believe it along with my internet and keyboard acting up worse than usual. Sorry for all the typing errors on the Velvet Elvis blog. Many of my keys are slowly dying on my keyboard. I hope to buy a MACBOOK PRO when I can afford to, but right now I really do not have that kind of money at all. I still have not gotten a job, but over the last week and a half or so that has not been much of a concern. The Chaos started on Monday (I think, or was it last Saturday... I think it was Saturday) of this (last) week. You know how some days are just SO BAD you can not help but laugh histarically?!? That was one of those days!! It started at 4am before I woke up with Chad's automobile dying at the pump at the petrol station. I tried to get it to start until 7am when he called his buddy Ben who he thought had to work at 8, but really didnt have to work til 10. either way he came out with his tools & him & Chad tried working on the auto to get it to start until 9am. They had no luck so Chad came back to the apartment to wake me up and have me call AAA to get some help. By about 11AM they car had been towed to the apartment car park & due to the snow they had trouble pushing it in a parking place. Due to a divine miracle the auto was jump started JUST long enough to back it 10 feet into the spot. The day proceeded with Chaos in Chad trying to get a full refund on a prepaid credit card that the people at "Advance America" but they kept charging him for it, so EVENTUALLY after like 4 hours or work on that he had his refund (and I got to drive him all over to fix the situation). At about 2PM our toilet broke!! I couldnt help but laugh all day at how awful the day was. That evening Ben visited & fixed the toilet, but Chad was out an automobile and he hates walking so thus I have been driving him for the past week.

I believe it was MONDAY things got bad for me. Walking into church on Sunday I fell on the ice (which is insane because I used to figure skate and never fell) but anyway because I have a joint disorder (HMS) I think it put a pretty bad strain on me, because Monday I had to go to Urgent Care Centre where I recieved like 8 XRays. There was a fear I broke or dislocated my elbow or shoulder, but luckily had only bad sprains through my left arm (If you look at my picture with this blog, you can see I am wearing my arm in a sling). So on top of running Chad's errands to pay his phone bill, take him to work etc, I have been running these errands with ONE ARM!!! I was unable to take my pain pills while driving so when I was not running errands I was often asleep from my crazy pain killers. Chad was pretty helpful when I asked him though, and I am weaning myself off the sling & doing better now. :)

As for news on a job I am somewhat getting tired of being told I am not qualified to work here & there etc. A man named Mark Jones at the Church I attend called me on Wednesday about being a waitress at Granite City and everything seamed pretty good until I concluded my interview and the man told me he did not think I capable of learning how to be a waitress or memorising the menu (never mind that I have been a perfect A student... because apparently that means nothing). Oh well! While at Starbucks talking to Lilly-Ann a lady came up to me who heard me talking about how I needed a job and all of the things I knew how to do etc & she said that I should apply in the salon management stuff that she works in. She said they were looking for people and I sounded like the right kind of person so I should bring my resume by on Tuesday. I still have to write a cover letter to go with it, but I really hope this works out because it is a really good job that I think I would do well at. We'll see... some things are just weird. (This all happened yesterday!!)

A lot more crazy things happened yesterday too. Chad fixed his automobile. He opened the hood of his auto and noticed his battery had blown up to itty bitty tiny pieces. He gathered the pieces and took them to Walmart and bought a new battery & he put it in. He did not think the battery was the issue because he had tried things with the battery before & it did not work, but he put in the new battery & it just sort of started!! :) Chad's mum also stopped by to give Chad a hair cut & delievered our Christmas gifts (since we had not been by to pick them up). The day finished at around 3 to 4am today when Chad came in second place on a poker tournament (he was one card off of taking first, but I guess thats just luck)... He won $171 on a $1 entry fee!! Out of 100 or so people he was second, so I guess thats pretty good.

I have also been getting great help from Lilly-Ann and people at church to help with money beyond my parents sending money. Lilly-Ann has been giving me things like potatoes & loo roll... Little things, but still needed and helpful. An anonomyous gift from a person at church for $200 will also be a big help especially for food when it runs out, and doing laundry & paying medical bills. It actually somewhat puts me in awe that people can be this nice... It makes me want to be able to repay others and do things like this in return.

It has deffinatly been crazy. I have still taken time to have a date night with Chad to just watch films from the apartment & just enjoy ourselves. It is a rough time but I am sure things can get better. One day things will be better. I hope to have a job soon and my money from the government will hopefully be in very shortly. I also need my PO Box to send off my Christmas Cards, & Birthday for January & February... I still have not finished the Beth Moore Study, but will post when I am done, and I need to start on JESUS WANTS TO SAVE CHRISTIANS (My book for February) so I can post on that at the end of the month too). I hope to read one book every month this year... Just wait and see the things to come... And hopefully my NEXT post will have even more exciting good news :)

Til Next Time,

RAYE

January is almost Over...

Its insane to think we are 75% done with January 2010 already!! Whats new with Raye?!? Still looking for a job!! How unpleasent!! :( Yesterday I got the good news though that I had made it through to level two on the dental assisting job, so today I took a series of exams which felt like I was sitting the SAT's or the GSCE's all over again... especially in the last part with all the writing, grammar, maths etc lessons. But I think I did well (on the last exam anyway I believe I only missed one question if any). If I do well enough I will pass to level 3 where I get a phone interview, & then level 4 where I will get an office interview & shadow someone on the job. I really want this job because the more I think about it the more I would love to go into dentistry... Maybe work as an NHS dentist someday?!? Who Knows!! I am still applying elsewhere though in case and if not, I hope to become a dental assistant in the future as a stepping stone to a dentist. Jobs are so hard to find around here... most jobs in America seam to want you to speak Spanish these days... I have to learn Spanish... I only know French and Italian...

Other than job stuff I have been working on a couple projects... I got a puzzle from WalMart of London that I put together & want to glue and frame for when I get my own place... the 500 piece puzzle only took about 3 1/2 hours to put together... Thats what the picture is of on the blog. I have been thinking about England a lot lately and how I wish I could just up and be there right now sometimes (but being away from Chad would be too difficult)... A group of my M8's just got back from London & Cambridge... I told them all how next time they are taking me hahaha.

I have also been working on finishing Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. I still plan to post a blog on my thoughts and some commentary on the book when I finish it so look out for that... :) I have also been continuing to work on my Stepping Up by Beth Moore Bible study book in order to draw closer to God... When I finish that I may also post a few thoughts on that if I find I have stuff to say... I did learn something cool though that I feel like saying now... Did anyone else know that Jerusalem actually translates to "City of Peace"?!? I thought that as pretty cool. Dispite the violence I would still love to visit Israel someday... :) Heck I would love to go about ANYWHERE... but right now, I would just like a job, to pay my bills, have a place of my own to stay, & live comfortably!!

Today I also got my birthday cards together for February... I am going kind of crazy that I still have not been able to send off my Christmas cards or my January birthday cards... Hopefully SOON!!!! I Will hopefully be able to move into my on place soon!! :)

Well I am back to applying for places for work, reading my books etc... and I have to do the dishes at somepoint. Keep a lookout for my Velvet Elvis blog which should be before January ends!! Have a great week to come :)
